NeurotechEU Summer School on Preclinical Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy in San Juan de Alicante, Spain

University Miguel Hernandez (UMH) is organising the NeurotechEU summer school on “Preclinical Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy: from the bench to the bedside” from July 24-26, 2023 at the Instituto de Neurociencias, San Juan de Alicante, Spain.

This summer school is intended to give a complete overview on preclinical Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopic techniques. It covers theoretical bases and the most used techniques (relaxometry, diffusion-based, functional), their main biomedical and neuroscientific applications, and a real hand-on session of MRI data acquisition and analysis.

The NeurotechEU Summer School on “Preclinical Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy: from the bench to the bedside” organised by the Universidad Miguel Hernández (UMH) has been held in San Juan de Alicante, Spain, between 24th and 26th of July 2023.

Coordinated by Dr. Silvia de Santis and Dr. Santiago Canals (from Instituto de Neurociencias, UMH-CSIC), the Summer School has been attended by 38 students from the partners of the European University of Brain and Technology alliance, NeurotechEU.

The Summer School included outstanding lectures by experts in the field of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) such as Dr. Pedro Ramos-Cabrer (from CIC-biomaGUNE, San Sebastian, Spain), Dr. Pilar López-Larrubia (IIB, Madrid, Spain), Dr. Emma Muñoz-Moreno (IDIBAPS, Barcelona, Spain), and the coordinators. The students have also learned about MRI data acquisition and analysis in practical sessions led by Mohamed Selim, Elena Espinós and Luis Tusets.

In addition to the training and scientific activity, the participants have had the opportunity to enjoy a guided tour to Santa Bárbara Castle in Alicante and a gala dinner held in one of the castle’s halls.
