The 5th NeurotechEU Board of Rectors meeting at Karolinska Institutet, in Stockholm, Sweden

Following the last NeurotechEU Board of Rectors meeting in Elche, Spain, NeurotechEU is excited to have had our 5th Board of Rectors meeting at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden.

The NeurotechEU Board of Rectors meeting is an initiative that occurs twice a year at a different partner univeristy of the NeurotechEU alliance. The Board of Rectors consists of all the rectors from the partner universities of the alliance. They are responsible for the long-term strategies and goals of NeurotechEU. Furthermore, their role is to implement the cooperation principles in the participating universities.

The main agenda item for the meeting was the transition and preparation for phase 2, which, if approved, secures another four years of EU funding starting in November 2023. The alliance is confident of a favourable decision on the Neurotech++ proposal.

The meeting was devoted to establishing the final steps of the project’s first phase and start working towards the implementation of the second phase that will start in November 2023. For this second phase, NeurotechEU will make Lifelong learning a vital element of the project and use it as a positive force for innovation in education, including personalisation, hybrid learning, artificial intelligence, and other digital methods. Capitalising on Phase 1 experiences and learned lessons, solid governance of the alliance will be implemented to provide solid roots and effective collaboration while keeping the current identity of each partner.

First NeurotechEU hackathon
Parallel to the Board of Rectors meeting, NeurotechEU organised the first-ever hackathon in collaboration with OpenLab Stockholm. Students and researchers from all NeurotechEU partner universities collaborated to address a complex and multifaceted challenge in the field of mental health.

The next Board of Rectors meeting will be held in Lille, France, in November 2023.
