Board of Rectors of NeurotechEU partner universities met in Elche, Spain

Following the last Neurotech meeting in Cluj, Romania, we are very excited to have had our 4th Board of Rectors meeting at the Miguel Hernandez University in Elche, Spain.

In the past few days, NeurotechEU has advanced into a new phase of further cooperation. The top-level governance board of this consortium is constituted of rectors from its member universities, and the board meets regularly to discuss project progress and guide the next steps. During the meeting in Elche, the Board signed in two new members, the University of Lille, France, and Reykjavik University, Iceland. The rectors also signed a declaration regarding the commitment of NeurotechEU to pursue its long-term strategy for education and research within the neurosciences, neurotechnology, and the future of universities. The alliance will emphasize the efforts to create a legislative framework that will allow the delivery of modern, personalized educational programs across their campuses.

Other events during the meeting

Parallel to this, the NeurotechEU Student Council held its last in-person meeting of 2022. The Student Council represents students’ opinions across the NeurotechEU, working on different aspects of advancing the mission of the project. Its members promote equitable opportunities for all enrolled students, facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences and assist with skill transfer.

The NeurotechEU Board of Rectors Meeting was accompanied by a scientific session where several researchers from the field of Neuroscience and Neurotechnology presented the latest results from their labs to the visiting NeurotechEU governors and students.

Work sessions and several social events completed the visit. Attendees had the opportunity to go on a sightseeing tour in the city of Elche, for example visiting the UNSECO Heritage Site of Palmeral, an oasis of date palms laid out at the time the Muslim city was erected around 1.000 c.e.
