Explore the latest developments in brain–computer interfacing at the Radboud DONUT Workshop 2026. Join leading researchers and doctoral candidates for two days of lectures, live demos, and research presentations showcasing current approaches and emerging directions in neurotechnology—on-site in Nijmegen or online.

About the event

The Radboud DONUT Workshop 2026 is a two‑day scientific workshop on brain–computer interfacing (BCI) organised by Radboud University. The event takes place on Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 June 2026 in Nijmegen, but most of the talks can be watched online via Zoom as well.

Workshop focus

The workshop features a broad and diverse scientific programme centred on brain‑computer interfacing and neurotechnology.

Participants can explore a series of lectures covering topics such as

  • Finger movement decoding from electrocorticography

  • Wearable EEG: state‑of‑the‑art homegrown hardware

  • BCI methods for adaptive deep brain stimulation

  • EEG Foundation Models: pretrained representations to boost decoding when labeled data is scarce

…and many others. In addition to lectures, the workshop includes live demos and poster presentations.

Together, these activities give participants direct insight into current approaches, tools, and applications in BCI research, while offering opportunities to engage with experts and explore a wide range of ongoing work in the field.

Format

Hybrid participation: on-site in Nijmegen or online

Participation

The workshop is open to late Master's students / PhD students / early Postdocs who are interested in advanced BCI topics.

Registration

Registration is required for both participation formats and is available via links provided in the official workshop booklet.

Please contact your home university to inquire if there are any funding/grant possibilities available.

DONUT and NeurotechEU

The DONUT project is a European doctoral network focused on advancing research and training in brain–computer interface (BCI) technologies through interdisciplinary collaboration and doctoral education.

Radboud University contributes to this European effort as a partner in DONUT and, at the same time, plays a leading role in NeurotechEU.

Through initiatives such as this workshop, Radboud University connects European doctoral training (DONUT) with the broader NeurotechEU ecosystem, fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and accessibility across institutions and disciplines.
