Be an Ambassador or a Student Representative

The NeurotechEU Student Council officially got together in the autumn of 2020 and represents students’ opinions across the NeurotechEU work packages, Board of Governors and Board of Rectors. There is representation from all the 8 alliance universities, working on different aspects of furthering the mission of the NeurotechEU.

As a student of NeurotechEU, you have the opportunity to engage with the alliance in two key ways: by joining your local Synapses student club as a NeurotechEU Ambassador or by becoming a Student Representative in the Student Council.

NeurotechEU Ambassadors and the Synapses Club

NeurotechEU aims to cultivate a vibrant, student-driven community across its 8 partner universities.

 

Through the Ambassadors program, we aim to:

  • Foster greater interaction among students.
  • Promote student-centred initiatives.
  • Build a strong, connected NeurotechEU student community.

 

Each partner university selects at least two dedicated students to serve as the face and voice of NeurotechEU. As Ambassadors, these students help raise awareness of the alliance, encourage participation in NeurotechEU activities, and contribute to fostering a dynamic, interactive community. This role offers valuable training and skill-building opportunities that will benefit you in both academic and professional settings. The Ambassadors are supported by Synapses Managers, who coordinate activities across universities and maintain close collaboration with the Student Council’s Communication Managers, ensuring consistent communication and alignment with NeurotechEU’s goals.

 

What Activities and Projects Can You Engage In?

As a NeurotechEU Ambassador, you’ll play a crucial role in:

  • Amplifying the mission and objectives of the NeurotechEU Alliance.
  • Promoting student participation in NeurotechEU events and activities through formal and informal channels.
  • Highlighting the benefits of being part of the NeurotechEU community and encouraging broader student engagement.
Who we are?

The Student Council includes 3 student representatives from each partner university to:

Represent

To represent the interests of all students enrolled at the NeurotechEU alliance members and ensure equitable opportunities.

Facilitate

To facilitate exchanges of knowledge and experiences between students within academia, industry and society.

Assist

To assist with skill transfer that enables open discussion and collaboration.

Student Representatives and the Student Council

You can become a Student Representative in the NeurotechEU Student Council if you’re interested in shaping the governance of NeurotechEU.

 

The Student Council:

  • composed of 3 representatives from each partner university who work to represent student needs and opinions across all levels of the alliance
  • operates through specific roles and responsibilities to effectively fulfill its mission
  • ensures efficient communication, decision-making, and active representation of student interests within the alliance by maintaining a specific structure.

 

Steering Board

The Steering Board oversees the Student Council’s activities and ensures its effective operation. It consists of 2 Co-Chairs and 2 Secretaries.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting weekly Steering Board meetings and monthly Student Council meetings.
  • The Co-Chairs are responsible for fostering engagement among Student Council members and represent the council in Board of Governors (BoG) meetings.
  • The Secretaries are responsible for organizing meetings, preparing agendas in collaboration with the Co-Chairs, and representing the council in WP1 (Work Package 1) meetings.

 

Who is Synapse?

Synapses was launched and is maintained by the NeurotechEU Student Council. The Student Council represents the interests of ~ 170,000 students of all stages of training. There are four official representatives from each of our 8 NeurotechEU Partner Universities. The Student Council runs since autumn 2020 and represents students’ opinions across NeurotechEU work packages (WPs) and Board of Governors (BoG).

NeurotechEU’s mission is to build a trans-European network of excellence in brain research and technologies to increase the competitiveness of European education, research, economy and society. As students, we like to facilitate this with our Student society by exchanging what’s going on on the other side of Europe and help shape the future of education & science.

Student Council Members contribute to the success of the NeurotechEU initiative by actively participating in the council’s activities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Attending monthly Student Council meetings.
  • Providing feedback on NeurotechEU content, including deliverables, courses, and other initiatives, when necessary.
  • Assisting in organizing events.
  • Participating in work package (WP) meetings to stay informed about the latest developments within NeurotechEU. Each WP is supported by two Student Council members, with an additional backup representative for continuity.

Student Council Managers include:

  • Communication Managers
  • Synapses Managers (local ambassadors for NTEU)

 

Responsibilities:

  • Attending monthly Student Council meetings.
  • Joining the Social Media Team to provide a student perspective on content for NeurotechEU’s social media platforms.
  • Ensuring seamless communication and coordination between the Student Council and NeurotechEU’s social media team, sharing relevant content and updates in both directions.
