International Perspectives on Parkinson’s Disease and Addiction: From Bench to Bedside
Reykjavik University and NeurotechEU present a seminar that brings together researchers and clinicians from France and Iceland to share insights on Parkinson’s disease and addiction — two major challenges in neuropsychiatric research. The seminar takes place at Reykjavik University October 29 from 1pm-3pm GMT. Participants can sign up for online partaking.
Electroencephalography (EEG) has re-emerged as one of the most powerful tools in cognitive and clinical neuroscience. Its unique ability to capture brain dynamics with millisecond precision provides an exceptional window into the neural mechanisms underlying perception, cognition, and behavior. Advances in high-density EEG, signal modeling, and machine learning now allow researchers not only to characterize brain function but also to identify reliable biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic monitoring. In the context of neurological and psychiatric disorders, EEG plays a growing role in the development of personalized, data-driven approaches to treatment, from measuring pharmacological effects to guiding neurostimulation and behavioral interventions.
Building on this shared interest in translational neuroscience, the seminar “International Perspectives on Parkinson’s Disease and Addiction: From Bench to Bedside” brings together researchers and clinicians from France and Iceland to exchange expertise and strengthen collaborations. Through a series of talks spanning from fundamental research to clinical applications, the meeting aims to explore how neurophysiological tools and interdisciplinary approaches can deepen our understanding of Parkinson’s disease and addiction, and pave the way for future joint projects in precision neuropsychiatry.
