2nd edition of the NeurotechEU Quantitative EEG Summer School in Romania
The āIuliu HaČieganuā University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca is pleased to organise the second edition of the ā NeurotechEU Summer School of Quantitative EEG (QEEG)ā which will take place between July 17-21, 2023 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
The Summer School provides an introduction to the fundamentals of QEEG for individuals interested in neurotechnology. The program is designed to include morning lectures, followed by interactive hands-on sessions in the afternoon, over a five-day period.
QEEG involves using algorithms to transform brain waves into numerical data, which can be analysed to gain insight into signal complexity, brain connectivity, and neural networks. The method has numerous clinical applications, including the study of neuropsychiatric disorders, epilepsy, stroke, dementia, and traumatic brain injury. During the program, participants will become familiar with various QEEG analysis tools, such as EEGLAB and Brain Vision Analyzer, and engage in team-oriented activities that promote a multidisciplinary approach.

The second edition of the Summer School of Quantitative Electroencephalography (QEEG) was held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, between the 17th and 21st of July 2023, in the framework of NeurotechEU (the European University of Brain and Technology). The educational program, coordinated by Prof. Dafin MureČanu and Dr. Livia Popa, brought together 25 junior researchers from different counĀtries: France ā Lille University (7 delegates), Germany ā Bonn University (3 delegates) and Cologne University (1 delegate), Netherlands ā Radboud University (1 delegate), Iceland ā Reykjavik University (4 delegates), Spain ā Miguel HernĆ”ndez University (4 delegates) and Romania - āIuliu HaČieganuā University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca (5 delegates). The five-day training followed a simple-to-complex apĀproach, from the EEG basics to the various types of QEEG analysis (frequency and time-frequency domain analysis, brain connectivity, source analysis, statistical analysis), as well as the association of QEEG with other technologies (e.g., transcranial magnetic stimulation and eye tracking). The innovative event was divided into eloquent lectures and hands-on sessions, facilitating multidisciplinary interaction and exchange of skills.
Last week I attended the NeurotechEU Summer School of Quantitative Electroencephalography (QEEG). It was a great opportunity for me to reinforce my theoretical and hands-on knowledge about the topic and to meet many likeminded researchers, strengthening the NeurotechEU community.
